How to take a screenshot (Windows & MacOS X)

When troubleshooting your issue, StreamSpot Support may ask for screenshots from you. Screenshots of your encoder setting or any errors messages you see will help give our support agents more clarity on your issue.  To take a screenshot, follow the guides below.

Windows

  • Click the Start button, then type snipping tool in the search box, and then select Snipping Tool from the list of results.
  • In Snipping Tool, select New. Move the crosshair to where you want to start the screenshot, then click and hold while dragging the mouse to select an area.

  • When you've selected the area you want, release your mouse button. To cancel, press the Esc (Escape) key before you release the button.
  • To save your snip as a file, click on File–>Save as from the menu bar and the program will let you save the snipped screen as a .gif, .jpg, .png, or an HTML file. We suggest saving the image as a .jpg to your Desktop so you can easily find it.

MacOS X

  • Press Shift+Command+at the same time on your keyboard. The pointer changes to a crosshair.
  • Move the crosshair to where you want to start the screenshot, then click and hold while dragging the mouse to select an area.
  • When you've selected the area you want, release your mouse or button. To cancel, press the Esc (Escape) key before you release the button.
  • The screenshot will automatically save as a .png file on your desktop.
