My broadcast is not viewable on mobile?

Encoding video for mobile devices can be tricky.  Most modern mobile devices require H.264 encoding for playback over HLS (http live streaming protocol).  Outdated compression codecs such as VP6 (Flash) can cause playback issues for mobile devices.

We have established best-practices to ensure that your broadcast is viewable on all devices:

Video Encoding:

  • H.264
  • Baseline level 3.0 (up to 480p)
  • Baseline level 3.1 (720p)
  • Main level 4.0 (1080i or higher)

Audio Encoding:

  • AAC codec
  • 44100 Mhz
  • 96kbps

Here is a great reference on the different types of H.264 encoding: http://blog.mediacoderhq.com/h264-profiles-and-levels/
