DHCP Reservation

Your local network settings maybe DHCP enabled, which means the IP address of a device is subject to change.  In turn, your IP camera will need to be refreshed for streaming to continue as intended.

A feature known as DHCP Reservation can workaround this so that a refresh is not necessary.

To configure this setting, you will need the following:

  1. The MAC address of your (AXIS) IP camera.
  2. Administrative access to your router's web (setup) page.  

To obtain the MAC address, login to the camera viewer page.  Click the Setup menu, then look for the address within Basic Setup (center).  The format will be 00:40:8C:XX:XX:XX. 

Once you have the MAC address, follow the DHCP reservation instructions from your router's support guide or manufacturer:
